Sunday Night Phish, last show of bonnaroo. Party Time.
Came out with AC/DC Bag a great one. Playing and sounding on point. NICU always a banger. Througout these shows and what not I heard a lot of nit picking and complaining on the part of phish fans, many complained about repeats and song selection. I was by no means dismayed to see Punch you in the Eye again always fun. Same thought for Character zero which was soon to follow and I ended up seeing three times in four shows, no complaints from me on that one.

Tweezer was badass. Into Tim’s lady The Horse. Haha. After Run like an antelope Trey got on the mike and started talking. I thought we were about to get a long story into Cornel forbins or something. Something to the effect of (When I was a kid I went to my first show, I had such a great time the music was great it sounded awesome, I thought every show I would go to would be that good, unfortunately that was not the case. The man who I went to see was none other than The boss Bruce Springstein) The crowd erupted with cheers of BRUUUUU ce. I knew he was at bonnaroo and that Trey was a fan of his but i did not see this one coming. I was hoping for a David Buryne appearance with Crosseyed and Painless. But the boss wrecked shop with Phish.

Mustang sally was sweet, they were reallying playing well together. Trey and Bruce trading off solos on the guitar, sweet. Glory Days was fucking awesome. I loved watching him get down with phish.

Set Two: The worst set I saw. Not to hate but its true. I really did enjoy the Rock and Roll cover, cause I do like the Velvet Underground a bunch. But in general the feel of the second set was much more docile, jams didnt go as far and no bangers Until First tube. Encore break, then good ones. Suzy Greenberg was great, my boy Adam called the Tweezer Reprise and I was pumped. Good ender, back to the camp site to pound Coors.

  • A Day In the Life

SO posted up at Bonnaroo for Phish round two, we had been staking a claim all day against the upper guard rail. Waiting, Where ya been… waiting. Beastie Boys played on the same stage right before phish and they really got the crowd into it. I had never seen them before, turns out these kids still got it. Mix master Mike was in the back spinnin records and the three others dudes would rap, and play their instruments. It was really tight to see live drums, keys and a standup bass at a beasties show, did not expect that. They were good, wish they played a bit more of their album the mix-up, link hera, encored with Sabotage and I was pumped for phish now.

They came out to the largest crowd I had seen in years. A Chalk Dust Torture? Awesome, glow sticks started flying. NO joke I had never seen such good and numerous glow stick wars in all my life. Bonnarro, security the next day attempted to not allow them into the stage area. No dice, the girls we were with hide them up the skirt.
Divided sky had a coordinated war, awesome. People at this show knew when to throw mass amounts, when the note or jam peaks.

Show continued, they were playing great, but i could tell they were getting drunk or something cause they missed a bit more notes than knoxville. Not hatting I could just tell they were having a lot of fun, still sounded great. Wolfman’s was a highlight for me, always wanted to see that one live. Waiting in the Velvet Sea seemed out of place, way too slow for a late night phish set, too slow, had to roll up. Harry was great more good glow wars. And then it got awesome.

Highway to Hell cover, yes! They rocked this one out, Trey sounded great on the vocals, I was so surprised to hear that song, crowd ate it up. Then, ha Then. My absolute favorite Phish song 2001. I can vividly remember sophomore year of high school watching the DVD bittersweet motel in big Al’s room. When this song came on we got up and started dancing around, no more needs to be said. It was fucking awesome live, so so good. By far my favorite moment of bonnaroo right there, had a fucking blast.

Double YEMs Ye ah. They were great, such a complex song to play, I found myself watching phishman on the drums the whole song. Even though we were Page Side Rage Side. A Day in the Life encore was epic. Great Beatles cover the lights during this song…damn. Not enough room on the blog.

After this show we walked over to Pretty Lights playing at the other tent to shake some ass with some ladies. Always a party at those shows. Video Hera, check out some of the others there.

Walking around the UT campus with a bottle of beer in my hand on the way to the lot, I knew this was going to be a lot of fun. We stumble upon the five story park garage to see the epitome of a lot scene. Each floor a different variety of ya bidness.

We start to head in to the arena, which is were all UT basketball games are played. The bitch is packed, as we walk in people are pleading to sell their tickets just so they can go in. “Please take my ticket 5 bucks I just want to go in.” We had unfortunately bought them for $40 the day before, still worth it.

As we find our seats in this massive arena me and Josh try to buy a beer. To our dismay its a fucking dry campus even though I had bough 4 dank colorado beers from a dude in the parking lot. Oh well. We find our seat and roll up.

Phish come out to a screaming crowd covered in lights. They immediately bust into Runaway Jim, sweet. I was instantly amazed with the sound quality. I had recently seen the Dead at the Pepsi Center (Set-list and Download Hera) in Denver and was in a similar seat to these. Upper nosebleeds about even with the stage, sideways. The sound at the Dead blew nut sacks, lots. Horrible feedback and acoustics. For about 20 minutes during Space, which they played twice, there was a reverberating echo, caused by a unplugged chord on stage. Really hurt my ears. I would normally hear the crowd before I heard Bobby or Walrus sing. If I hear one more soul-shine I will assassinate him. That show blew and I really like that Dead, but onto Phish.

They killed it, next song Punch You in the Eye, one of my all-time favorite bangers. I was going nuts, also because as we were sitting at Bijan’s house hours before I had said I would love to see a punch tonight. Then a new one, a slow one and into Mike’s Groove. They sounded so good throughout the set, everyone was on point, hitting changes perfectly.
Right before set break they played Character Zero, another one of my personal favorites. I didn’t take this video but our seats were in the same area.

Set two starts and they come back out to a very hyped crowd. Busted out back on the train. Good song slow but good, The lyrics are interesting, read them hera. It made me think of how it took me awhile to get back on the train and in the show seeing/touring mood. Also how phish as a band is back on the train after a break, and shit they are good. I heard that they were taking a break cause their shows were getting mundane and lackluster. Well they sure came back with the idea that if your going to tour and play shows do it right. Damn it was good.

Set two continues wonderfully, busted out David Bowie which is one of homie Josh’s favorites. Reba was sweet.

Encore, hell yeah. I have always dug Phish’s cover of Edgar Winter’s Frankenstein (video hera) and was discussing that earlier that day. When I saw Paige bust out the Keytair I knew we were in for something funky, needless to say they did not disappoint. Fuck yeah, greatest show I had seen in a long fucking time. Until…
